This is the later bulkier type of door waist seal with smooth rubber faces to either side of the window glass. These might have looked a bit smarter than the pre'89 type but were actually a serious retrograde step as in practise the metal reinforcing core rotted and warped within a decade pushing the flocked seal away from the window glass and allowing rain water to just flow unimpeded into the door carcass, hence why you can find 1980s Range Rovers with surprisingly solid and rust-free inner doors, but anything after 1989 can have doors that are as rotten as a pear - - these waist seals are the principal offender and I can only assume in typically British Leyland mentality that the factory saved about 13 pence per seal over the previous design.
This rear passenger seal is probably as smart and sound as you are going to find as it was taken off a Range Rover at about ten years old. The inner core that I mentioned exhibits only the slightest warping or bowing, so once fitted the flocked faces will sit snugly against your window pane and serve its intended function. Cosmetically this waist seal I would rate as 9.5/10 condition - it's superb - no nitpicks to point out, any photos are to show how good it is. These are items that have been stored in my late father's attic for almost two decades. Please scrutinize the pictures, read my feedback, and see my other listings for Range Rover Classic items.
